PLA-Polylactic Acid, CAS No: 26100-51-6
PLA-polylactic acid is a biopolymer derived from starch in corn, cassava, sugarcane, sugar beet, rice, wheat, sweet potato, etc which are renewable natural resource. PLA is fully biodegradable in industrial composting facility and home. Our supplier has gotten international certificates for industrial composting certificates such as EU Biobased certificate, EU Compostable certificate, USA BPI certificate, Korea Environmental Identification Certificate, Australia Commercial Composting, Chinese authorities for Environment Management and Quality Management certificates ISO9001, ISO14001 etc.
Since PLA is derived from renewable natural resource, PLA derived plastics are fully biodegradable, and they constitute a bio-circulatory lifecycle as illustrated below:
PLA plastic resin is a thermoplastic polyester that can be used to make a large variety of plastic products such as disposable tableware, housings for kitchen appliances and electronics such as laptops and handheld devices. In packaging products, shopping bags, and specialty bags such as compost bags, food packaging and loose-fill packaging material made by cast, injection molded, or spun. In the form of fibers, it is used for monofilament fishing line and netting. In the form of nonwoven fabrics, it is used for upholstery, awnings, disposable garments-such as medical use, feminine hygiene products, and diapers. In the automotive industry, it is used for internal decoration parts, such as floor mats, panels, and covers. In agriculture, mulch film and net are used for vegetation and weed prevention. Since PLA is biodegradable, it is widely used in the medical field to make medical implants in the form of anchors, screws, plates, pins, rods, and mesh in surgical and orthopedics application. Some drug delivery devices used in pharmaceutical industry are also made of PLA resin.
In addition, 3D printing is an important PLA application.
